Wigan's bizarre kick off without opponents Oxford

Wigan attempted to kick off without their opponents Oxford on Tuesday night, with the visitors busy warming up.

In a bizarre start to the second half, Wigan had been waiting nearly three minutes to get the game underway again while Oxford finished a warm-up by the side of the pitch.

The referee Trevor Kettle can be seen calling Oxford over, before blowing his whistle for Wigan to commence.

As they did, rushing up the pitch to score in an open net, Kettle blew his whistle again, allowing Oxford to return, while having a stern word in the ear of Oxford captain Curtis Nelson.

The game ended in a 1-0 win for the hosts Wigan, as Will Grigg's 87th-minute goal moved them three points clear at the top of League One.
