Massimiliano Allegri is perfect for Arsenal, but would also fit in at Chelsea, says Dennis Wise

Massimiliano Allegri would fix Arsenal's defensive problems and should replace Arsene Wenger, says Dennis Wise.

Wise and Danny Mills discussed candidates to replace Wenger as Arsenal manager on Premier League Daily.

The Frenchman will step down after 22 years and suggested after the 4-1 win over West Ham that the worldwide image of the club had been affected due to fan unrest.

So who will replace Wenger? Wise and Mills reflect on their ideal credentials.....

MASSIMILIANO ALLEGRI (Juventus manager)

Wise: "I think this is someone who would be very well suited at Arsenal, defensively and tactically it's what they need because Arsenal struggle at the back and in midfield.

"He's won Serie A three times and been runner up in the Champions League so he has experience. But if there's a situation at Chelsea, maybe there could be swap over where Antonio Conte comes to Arsenal and Allegri goes to Chelsea?"

PATRICK VIEIRA (New York City)

Mills: "I think that would be a heart-over-head appointment. Undoubtedly he's going to be a very good manager but I think it might be a little too soon. I think he needs more experience at the top level."

BRENDAN RODGERS (Celtic)

Wise: "Brendan winning trophies in Scotland is very different to winning trophies in England.

"His style of play is nice but there needs to be a change at Arsenal. So for me it's a no."

DIDIER DESCHAMPS (France)

Mills: "If he does well at the World Cup he could certainly become a possibility with Wenger becoming the French manager."

JOACHIM LOW (Germany)

Mills: "He's got World Cups on his CV. I don't think he is going to go from Germany to Arsenal where there is no possibility of Champions League next season.

"They are going to have to pay an awful lot of money to play catch-up in the Premier League. If I was him, I wouldn't be leaving Germany any time soon."

Granit Xhaka wants Arsenal to win the Europa League as a 'special' gift for Arsene Wenger

CARLO ANCELOTTI (Former Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Real Madrid)

Wise: "He's a possibility, he is well respected within the game and everyone thinks highly of him.

"He's done it at every level and I think that is important. He's got great experience of the game and if he walked into the Arsenal dressing room, I am sure he would be able to sort it out."

Mills: "He could be their second choice. If they don't get that number one choice, he might be next in line as their back-up in the short-term."

Former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein says there will be 'no shortage of offers' for Arsene Wenger

LUIS ENRIQUE (Former Barcelona and Roma):

Mills: "I think it would be very difficult. The quality of players you have at Barcelona is exceptional. You throw into that Lionel Messi and you always have a chance, no matter what.

"Has he got enough managerial experience to go into a troubled Arsenal that need a little bit of rebuilding? "I think that one's unlikely."
