EFL in talks to help Aston Villa overcome financial problems

The EFL has confirmed they will meet with Aston Villa to discuss their current financial plight.

They want to seek assurances that Villa can fulfil their financial obligations and have requested a business plan.

Steve Bruce's side were facing a winding-up order via the High Court until they recently agreed a payment schedule regarding the money they owe to HMRC.

Villa are understood to be confident they will be able to balance the books, although that may involve selling key players.
