Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored his 10th goal of the season but it was not enough as D.C. United fought back to hold LA Galaxy to a 2-2 draw.

Ibrahimovic volleyed a sensational fifth-minute opener and Chris Pontius added a well-taken second as the Galaxy raced into a two-goal lead inside 25 minutes.

But D.C hit back immediately, Zoltan Stieber pulling one back a minute after Pontius' strike before Darren Mattocks weaved through the Galaxy defence to earn his side a point five minutes from time.

Darwin Quintero became the first player to score a hat-trick for Minnesota United as they ended a three-game losing streak in a thrilling 4-3 victory over Toronto FC.

Quintero opened the scoring inside eight minute with a crisp finish into the top after cutting through the Toronto defence before Miguel Ibarra made it two on 13 minutes.

The MLS champions pulled a goal back on 43 minutes through Justin Morrow but Quintero notched his second and third goals in five second-half minutes to put the game to bed.

Tesho Akindele scored two goals in the final four minutes as FC Dallas extended their unbeaten home run to 10 games with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Atlanta United.

Sporting threatened to stage a comeback when Ike Opara converted from a Johnny Russell cross on 64 minutes, but Albert Rusnak's fluffed Panenka penalty 10 minutes from time quelled their chances to salvaging something from the game.

In fact, things got a lot worse for Sporting, who ended the game with nine men when Salloi and Roger Espinoza saw red in stoppage time, before Luis Silva added a fourth for Real with a penalty of his own.

In the night's other game, Will Bruin's brace secured a 2-1 victory for the Seattle Sounders over the Colorado Rapids.

Bruin put the hosts in front inside 19 minutes, only for Sam Nicholson to level the contest five minutes before half-time.

But Bruin had the final word, pouncing on an error from former Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard on the hour.
