Greece and Croatia both won their games in Group F against Israel and Malta to stay in first and second place, respectively.
The Greeks currently top the group with 17 points, with Croatia a point further back and Israel on 13 points in third spot.
Latvia stayed in fifth place despite edging the game with Georgia as they snatched a late goal.
Sotiris Ninis scored the only goal of the game for group leaders Greece away to Israel in a contest that was littered with bookings.
The visitors went into the game without having lost under coach Fernando Santos and that streak continued as they made it five wins and two draws from their seven games so far.
Greece had the better of the first half though their shooting left a little to be desired but they got the goal they deserved on the hour mark as Ninis fired home from 20 yards.
The goal sparked a response from Israel, with Lior Rafaelov's volley from a Bebras Natkho corner going over.
Two first-half goals from Ognjen Vukojevic and Milan Badelj for Croatia set them on their way to a 3-1 victory against Malta.
Vukojevic opened the scoring, converting Ivan Strincic's cross with 12 minutes on the clock. Badelj latched onto a through ball to double Croatia's lead from 12 yards just after the half-hour mark
Michael Mifsud reduced the arrears with a strike six minutes before the interval but Dejan Lovren made the points safe with a late strike.
Latvia's Aleksandrs Cauna scored the only goal of the game as they managed to gain an away win in Georgia.
