Champ Team of Week

Image: Kevin Doyle: Netted his first away goals since February as Wolves saw off Bristol City

See who made Sky Sports' Team of the Week after another busy period of Championship action.

Team of the week

David Marshall - Cardiff City
It was not the most taxing of weekends for Marshall, as Cardiff saw off Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday, but he was able to repel anything the Owls threw at him to record one of only four clean sheets picked up in the second tier. The Bluebirds have now secured seven shut-outs for the season, with their promotion push being built on solid foundations.
Paul McShane - Hull City
There was more than a hint of hand-ball about McShane's winner for Hull City at Nottingham Forest on Saturday, but the goal stood and he helped the Tigers to a 2-1 success. The Republic of Ireland international is hardly prolific in front of goal, so he gets the nod for having at least put himself in a position to grab what could prove to be an important effort come the end of the campaign.
Zak Whitbread - Leicester City
Three wins in four have Leicester right in the automatic promotion mix, with Nigel Pearson's side just four points adrift of the top two. They collected another three-point haul, and local bragging rights, on Saturday as they hammered East Midlands rivals Derby 4-1 at the King Power Stadium. Whitbread opened the floodgates just six minutes into the contest with a towering header.
Damien Delaney - Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace's goal-getters may be stealing the headlines right now, and rightly so, but Ian Holloway will know that a solid back four is as important when piecing together a promotion bid as a formidable front line. Experience is also a key commodity in the Championship and Delaney has been a shrewd acquisition for the Eagles, helping them to another clean sheet against Brighton on Saturday.
David Nugent - Leicester City
With so many strikers catching the eye over the weekend, this week's Championship selection has had to deploy two men used to operating down the middle in wide areas. One-cap England frontman Nugent is the first of our makeshift wingers, with the fit-again Leicester man stepping off the bench to bag a brace in the Foxes' rout of Derby.
Craig Conway - Cardiff City
Another week, another home win for Cardiff, who have cemented their standing at the top of the table. The Bluebirds saw off Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 on Sunday to maintain their 100 per cent record in front of their own supporters. Conway was the match-winner for Malky Mackay's men against the Owls, with the Scot opening his account for the season in timely fashion.
Bjorn Sigurdarson - Wolverhampton Wanderers
There was welcome relief for under-fire Stale Solbakken at Ashton Gate on Saturday, with a remarkable first-half effort from Wolves making a mockery of their recent struggles. Four goals inside 45 minutes had Wolves out of sight of Bristol City before the interval, with Sigurdarson netting one and laying on another as things finally clicked for the men from Molineux.
Tom Ince - Blackpool
Blackpool will be pleased to see Ince among the goals again, with Michael Appleton picking up his first success as Seasiders boss over the weekend, but they must fear what the January transfer window holds for their star turn. Ince underlined his Premier League pedigree once again in a 4-1 victory over Peterborough, converting from the spot and crashing home an impressive 20-yard drive.
Glenn Murray - Crystal Palace
Murray now sits just one goal behind Burnley's Charlie Austin in the Championship scoring stakes, with the Crystal Palace forward having netted 17 times in 16 outings. He returned to haunt former employers Brighton on Saturday, with a deadly double easing the Eagles to a 3-0 win. Murray could have added another hat-trick to his enviable collection, but allowed Owen Garvan to take a second-half penalty.
Luciano Becchio - Leeds United
Saturday lunchtime saw Leeds record their first victory at the home of their West Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield since 1963, with Whites boss Neil Warnock given plenty to celebrate on his 64th birthday. Becchio led the derby charge at the John Smith's Stadium, with the Argentine striker scoring twice in a 4-2 victory for in-form Leeds.
Kevin Doyle - Wolverhampton Wanderers
Wolves' comprehensive victory over Bristol City has already been discussed, and Doyle figured prominently in a 4-1 success. The Republic of Ireland international grabbed his first goals on the road since February at Ashton Gate, with a first-half double seeing him back on the goal trail at just the right time.
