We cast an eye over the weekend's Premier League action and pick out the highlights.
Player of the Weekend
Raheem Sterling
The Liverpool teenager was given a chance playing off Luis Suarez against Norwich in the absence of the injured Daniel Sturridge and he vindicated manager Brendan Rodgers' decision. He hammered home the opening goal after just four minutes and his precise pass seven minutes later set up Suarez for the second goal. Just past the hour mark, Sterling scored his second of the game when he ran with the ball from inside his own half, went past a couple of Norwich challenges on the edge of the area before his deflected shot looped over John Ruddy.

Norwich 2 Liverpool 3
Early goals from Sterling and Suarez suggested it was going to be another comfortable win for Liverpool at Carrow Road as Brendan Rodgers' side close on a first title since 1990. However, Gary Hooper's goal ruffled the Reds' feathers before Sterling scored again. Robert Snodgrass' header gave Norwich renewed hope and it was an uncomfortable closing quarter of an hour for Liverpool before an 11th successive win was confirmed.

Luis Suarez
Arsenal's opening two goals against Hull City were fine team moves, and Sterling's opener, albeit via a slight deflection, against Norwich was a cracker, but there was much to admire about Suarez's goal in Liverpool's 3-2 win at Carrow Road. Jon Flanagan's excellent pass down the left channel played in Sterling and he played a perfect low pass into the penalty area which Suarez finished off neatly after his darting movement had bamboozled the home defence.
Save of the Weekend
Tim Howard
Former Manchester United keeper Howard denied his old club the chance to launch a late comeback after producing a brilliant reaction stop to thwart Wayne Rooney. Javier Hernandez's pass played Rooney into space in the box, but Howard lifted up an arm to prevent his former team-mate bringing United back into the match at Goodison Park.
Nervous wait of the Weekend
Ramires
Chelsea midfielder Ramires could find himself with a Football Association charge of violent conduct to answer in the coming days after clashing with Sebastian Larsson in the 2-1 defeat by Sunderland. The ball had gone when Ramires took a look behind him and appeared to aim a forearm into Larsson's face which was not spotted by referee Mike Dean. Any suspension for Ramires would rule the Brazilian out of Chelsea's remaining Premier League games.
Gaffe of the Weekend
Mark Schwarzer
With Petr Cech absent due to a virus, the 41-year-old Mark Schwarzer started his first Premier League game for Chelsea in goal. However, Schwarzer contributed to Sunderland's equaliser at Stamford Bridge when he parried Marcos Alonso's volley from the edge of the area and Connor Wickham reacted sharply to tuck away the rebound.
Controversy of the Weekend
Sunderland's penalty
There were a few 'soft' penalty decisions over the weekend, but the one that generated the most debate and controversy was the spot-kick awarded to Sunderland at Stamford Bridge. Cesar Azpilicueta was sliding in anticipation to block Jozy Altidore's expected cross when the Sunderland striker's left leg landed on the Chelsea full-back. Fabio Borini scored the penalty which ultimately ended Jose Mourinho's unbeaten Premier League home record, with Mike Dean's decision prompting a furious reaction on the Chelsea bench.
Dilly dally of the Weekend
Steve Harper
The Hull City goalkeeper was almost punished by Olivier Giroud during his side's 3-0 defeat at home by Arsenal. Liam Rosenior's low back-pass may have been held up slightly by the wind, but Harper took an age waiting for the ball to come to him. In the end, his attempted clearance was charged down by Giroud, who was then unlucky to strike the crossbar from a narrow angle.
