FIFA president Sepp Blatter says he has held a constructive meeting with the Emir of Qatar to discuss preparations for the 2022 World Cup.
Blatter confirmed that talks covered a number of topics and included the importance of looking after the welfare of those being employed by the Gulf state in the building of stadia ahead of football’s greatest international tournament.
The International Trade Union Confederation recently warned that as many as 4,000 migrant workers could die in construction site accidents over the next seven to eight years.
And following his meeting with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Blatter reported "Qatar takes its responsibility as hosts seriously.
"It was great to see his and Qatar's commitment to use the 2022 FIFA World Cup to achieve positive social change and to promote the host country and region."
The chat, which lasted around an hour, also reviewed the progress being made in developing infrastructure ahead of the finals.
