Celtic winger Derk Boerrigter has accepted a two-match suspension for simulation in the 3-0 victory at St Johnstone.

Referee John Beaton awarded Celtic a penalty after the Dutchman fell to the ground following a coming together with Saints full-back Dave Mackay.

As the last man, home skipper Mackay was sent off. Nir Biton slotted home the resulting spot-kick to put the champions 2-0 up before Callum McGregor added a third late in the match.

After the game, St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright said: "If there was contact with Boerrigter it was minimal and it didn't make him go down. He didn't go down in the contact, that is clear for everyone to see."

Boerrigter and Celtic decided to accept the Scottish Football Association's notice of complaint that he had "caused a match official to make an incorrect decision by committing an act of simulation".

Boerrigter was offered and subsequently accepted a fixed penalty, two-game league ban and will miss the forthcoming Premiership trips to Inverness and Dundee as a consequence. However he is free to feature in the two-legged Champions League play-off against Maribor.

Meanwhile, Mackay, who was red-carded for "denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity", will have his appeal for wrongful dismissal dealt with by a SFA tribunal on Thursday.
