A Kevin Nolan hat-trick helped Newcastle sweep aside ten-man Sunderland 5-1 in the Tyne-Wear derby at St James' Park in the 2010/11 season

Newcastle delivered a Halloween special which will live forever in the minds of Sunderland supporters. The formula was simple but devastatingly effective.

Chris Hughton’s side managed to achieve something unique, making direct football entertaining. Andy Carroll bullied and bruised the Sunderland defenders all game, as Kevin Nolan showcased his ability to be in the right place at the right time.

Nolan celebrated his hat-trick with his well-established clucking chicken celebration. Sunderland haven’t given them much joy in this fixture since this galling defeat.

Tottenham earned a thrilling point against Arsenal following a 4-4 North London derby draw in the 2008/09 season

David Bentley’s brilliant early volley, completely outsmarting Manuel Almunia, was an indication of the unbelievable spectacle we were about to witness at the Emirates Stadium.

Goals from Mikael Silvestre, William Gallas and Emmanuel Adebayor saw Arsenal roar into the lead before Darren Bent pulled one back for Spurs. Then Robin van Persie appeared to strike the decisive blow to put the home side 4-2 ahead.

The game appeared to be all over with two minutes remaining and much of the away end had already made for the exits when Jermaine Jenas and Aaron Lennon scored two quickfire goals to secure the most unlikely of draws.

Mario Balotelli revealed a message to his critics after opening the scoring in Manchester City's 6-1 thrashing of Manchester Utd in the 2011/12 season

No Manchester City fan will ever forget Mario Balotelli with his Man City shirt hoisted over his head, displaying his vest underneath with the caption ‘Why always me?’

The Italian had dominated all the headlines in the build-up to this clash after he accidentally set off a firework in his own bathroom, but it was City’s fiery display that stole the show at Old Trafford as they romped to a 6-1 win.

Roberto Mancini’s side tore Sir Alex Ferguson’s men to shreds in the closing stages to produce an emphatic scoreline and the defending champions suffered arguably their most embarrassing Premier League defeat.

Paul Scholes was congratulated by Gary Neville in a memorable fashion as his header gave Manchester United the points in the Manchester derby

Throughout the Premier League era, Manchester United have become infamous for their ability to score vital late goals.

Paul Scholes had regularly showed his match-winning abilities but his 93rd minute winner to give the Red Devils victory at the very last minute at the Etihad was special, even for a midfielder of his calibre.

Scholes headed home from Patrice Evra’s cross as United’s last foray forward and their final roll of the dice paid off in dramatic fashion.

Gary McAllister scored an injury time winner as Liverpool beat local rivals Everton 3-2 at Goodison Park in the 2000/01 season.

The Merseyside derby has conjured up some magnificent games, none more so than this Premier League meeting.

There had already been four goals, two penalties and a sending off leading up to the final set piece of the match.

Gary McAllister’s 94th-minute, 44-yard free-kick deceived everyone, including Everton goalkeeper Paul Gerrard, as it kept low and true, finding the bottom left corner of the net. It sealed Gerard Houllier’s first derby win at Goodison Park and Liverpool’s first win at the ground in a decade.
