Chris Coleman wary of Wales complacency with Euro 2016 place close

Chris Coleman is taking nothing for granted ahead of two vital European Qualifiers for Wales over the next four days.

Victories in Cyprus on Thursday and at home to Israel on Sunday will secure Wales' place at Euro 2016 and what would be their first major tournament for 58 years.

But manager Coleman remains guarded about the prospect of Wales ending that long wait in France next summer.

"As of yet we've not proved that we are different to the other teams in the past," Coleman said ahead of their Thursday examination in the Nicosia heat.

"We're on the road to doing it, we're in a great position to do something special.

"The heat is on, the pressure is on, and this is where you find things out about yourself.

"We're good enough and strong enough to handle it and we've got to do that.

"It's notoriously tough when we come here and it's not as if Cyprus have got nothing to play for.

"It's a must-win game for them if they're going to do anything in this campaign, but they'll be need to be prepared for us because if we're on top of our game then we're a challenge for anyone."

Coleman is also not paying any attention to Wales' position in the world rankings, with the next list on Thursday morning set to see them leapfrog England into ninth.

"The rankings won't get us to France. I wish it would but they won't," Coleman added.

"I can understand the excitement building among our fans, 100 per cent, because they haven't had a lot to shout about for a long time. So why shouldn't they do it now?

"I said at the start of the campaign we're good enough to do something special and I haven't changed my mind.

"We never discuss the second game and what's at stake, we've only discussed and concentrated on our performance against Cyprus."
