Dele Alli believes new England manager Gareth Southgate is employing the perfect philosophy to get the most out of his players.
England defeated Lithuania 2-0 on Sunday to maintain their unbeaten record in this World Cup qualifying campaign and stay four points clear at the top of Group F.
Alli played in an advanced midfield role at Wembley, with Raheem Sterling and Adam Lallana either side of him and Jermain Defoe up front, as Southgate employed a 4-2-3-1 formation.
And the 20-year-old Tottenham star, who has scored 14 Premier League goals this season, was quick to praise Southgate when asked to describe what life is like under the new regime.
"[Southgate] likes to play football and get the ball down," Alli told Sky Sports News HQ after the win. "I think with the players we have got it really suits us.
"We like to win the ball up high and press, and get the ball down and play football and be patient as well so it is a fantastic time.
"With the boys we have got here, a lot of the boys want to play that way. It is important with the squad he chooses that everyone comes in and has an understanding and wants to play the same way.
"It is important for the team when we come here that we all buy into the philosophy.
"Like I say, he is a fantastic coach and it is a pleasure to play for him."
