Mark Gonzalez is hoping Chile team-mate Humberto Suazo can regain fitness in time to be part of the side's World Cup challenge.
Suazo suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday's win over Israel and, although he was named in coach Marcelo Bielsa's final 23-man squad for South Africa, it is not known when he will be fit to return to action.
Suazo is a doubt for Chile's opening match in Group H against Honduras on 16th June, but Gonzalez is hopeful the Real Zaragoza hitman will be available at some point.
"It (the news) was like a bucket of cold water. At moments like this it's difficult to accept, but we hope he's going to be fit," said the CSKA Moscow player.
"We have faith because there's time. There are enough days for Suazo to recover.
"We all have our responsibilities on the pitch. Now we will have to double our efforts because we know he's a key player.
"(But) we're not thinking about this. It affects us, but we are continuing with our work."
Following the opening game against Honduras in Nelspruit, Chile tackle Switzerland and European champions Spain in their remaining group fixtures.
