Hodgson praises defender's warrior-like qualities

England boss Roy Hodgson has confirmed John Terry is an injury doubt for Tuesday's World Cup qualifier against Ukraine. The Three Lions boss has praised the centre-back's warrior-like qualities after he played on for as long as possible with an ankle problem in Friday's 5-0 thrashing of Moldova. England had used all of their substitutes and it was only when Terry could no longer carry on that he was forced off to leave him as a concern for next week's meeting with Ukraine. "I'd liked to have taken him off, and we did suggest we'd play with 10," said Hodgson. "He's a warrior though, so he poo-pooed the suggestion he should come off with 20 minutes to go. "He took a kick on the ankle in the first half and then twisted it slightly when he landed in front of the bench in the second half. "They're assessing him at the moment. It's obviously not a very serious injury but every knock is important with only three days between games."
