Craig Levein could be missing Celtic captain Scott Brown (hip) while niggles kept winger James Forrest, Hearts centre-back Andy Webster and Cardiff goalkeeper David Marshall out of training for the crucial Group A clash.
Scotland drew their first two games while Wales suffered two defeats - most recently a humiliating 6-1 thrashing at the hands of group leaders Serbia in Novi Sad.
Celtic defender Adam Matthews was forced out of Welsh consideration with an ankle injury but could come into consideration for the game in Osijek on Tuesday.
Gareth Bale has proved his fitness in training and will definitely be involved in the Welsh capital.
"Gareth came down to the training ground and worked with the physio," said assistant manager John Hartson. "We feel he will be OK for Friday. It is just a case of getting him ready."
Celtic midfielder Joe Ledley, has also come through training unscathed to dispel any injury fears and is also expected to start.
