Although he was not involved in the victory over Ukraine, the 24-year-old watched team-mates Yohan Cabaye and Mathieu Debuchy play their parts as Les Bleus secured a 3-2 win on aggregate despite a 2-0 first-leg defeat.
Moussa Sissoko and Loic Remy were also in Didier Deschamps' squad as they secured a place in Brazil next summer, and Yanga-Mbiwa says that the Magpies' French contingent is brimming with positivity.
"All the players are confident. The French team has qualified and all the players are happy and trying to do well to help themselves go to the World Cup," he said.
Yanga-Mbiwa has been capped three times for his country, but says he is unsure as to whether a return to Deschamps' squad in the near future is likely, with the Premier League his main priority at the minute.
"Oh, I don't know. I try to do well," he said.
"I know the gaffer of the France team watches the games. We won and afterwards, it's up to him to decide if he calls me or not."
