Guillem Balague believes Jose Mourinho could be tempted to leave Manchester United should he get the opportunity to manage Paris Saint-Germain.

In a recent interview with French TV, Mourinho said he will not end his managerial career with United, adding he has a "desire to do new things".

The 54-year-old, who has previously said he would like to manage the Portuguese national side at the end of his career, also described PSG as "special" in the interview.

Mourinho is midway through a three-year contract at Old Trafford after first joining the club ahead of the 2016-17 season and Balague says Mourinho may be using PSG for leverage in talks over an Old Trafford extension.

But the Sky Sports' Spanish football expert also believes Mourinho is likely to fancy the chance to test himself in the French capital.

When asked what message is Mourinho looking to send, Balague said: "That he will end up at PSG. I think it was always part of his journey.

"He would go to a team that is superior in the French league but still has not shown - let's see what happens this season - that they have the level to win the Champions League.

"We know Jose is capable of making that kind of jump if given the team. The squad is there to challenge for the next few years but those words also coincide with wanting a new contract so let's wait and see."
