Rovers to complete signing

Bristol Rovers have confirmed that they are set to conclude the signing of Scotland international Garry Kenneth. The 25-year-old defender is available on a free transfer after leaving Dundee United earlier this summer. Sky Sports revealed last week that Rovers were leading the chase and now they have confirmed that a deal is close. "We've spoken to Garry and we're happy with everything that has been agreed and he'll join us subject to a satisfactory medical," said manager Mark McGhee. "It was only a couple of seasons ago when Kenneth was being looked at by a number of top-end Championship clubs. "He was playing well consistently at that time under Craig Levein and was on the fringes of the Scotland squad. "He's not done so well since Craig left Dundee United to take the Scotland job, but maybe it was a case of Garry becoming a bit stale after being at one club for too long. "I know what Garry is and if we can get him back to top fitness then he will be a very good signing for us. He's a traditional central defender and is everything we need at the back in this division and the one above."
