NEC Nijmegen have struck a deal with Halmstad which will see Karl-Johan Johnsson join the club in January.

The 22-year-old goalkeeper is considered to be a hot prospect for the future and has welcomed the opportunity to further his career in Holland.

Johnsson has already made the step up into the senior Sweden national team and is eager to continue his development in a more competitive league.

He will see out the remainder of the current Swedish season with Halmstad, before then embarking on a new adventure in the Eredivisie.

"It feels terrific," Johnsson told Fotbollskanalen.se.

"There has been interest for a while, but I signed last week. The contract runs until 2016.

"It feels like a step in the right direction.
