Croatian frontmen Mladen Petric is one of eight senior members of the Cottagers squad that will see their current deals expire at the end of the season.
With no fresh terms put in place as yet, that group will be free to discuss pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs from January.
Jol acknowledges that the situation is far from ideal but, after seeing key men such as Mousa Dembele and Clint Dempsey head for the exits over the summer, he believes he will be able to keep his squad intact when the transfer window re-opens.
"The players we had to sell because of clauses and little problems," said the Dutchman.
"We aren't in a position to say, 'that's it let's go for half a million'. We need them and they are important to us. I would love to keep them.
"For next season? That's a different matter. We are talking about now, this transfer window. Next season is another matter and we feel we will keep the players we want to keep."
