Bolton striker Marvin Sordell admits he is relishing the chance to work alongside Sean Dyche again, as he nears a move to Burnley.

The 23-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Charlton, is reportedly close to a £600,000 switch to Turf Moor having previously been managed by Dyche during his time at Watford.

Sordell, a former England Under-21 international, hit eight goals in all competitions for the Addicks last season.

Sordell worked with Dyche at Vicarage Road during the 2011/12 campaign and it was his form that year which prompted Bolton into spending a reported £3.2million on his services as he found the net 10 times prior to his January switch.

Speaking at George's Park on Wednesday, he said: "I worked with him a lot at Watford and he’s a very good coach, a very good mentor for players and I’m not surprised Burnley did so well last season.

"All I can say is that in football nothing is guaranteed. There are reports and rumours but nothing is ever 100 per cent so I cannot say too much.

"If it comes along it would be a fantastic opportunity and I have been working at St George’s Park already in pre-season to give me the best chance to hit the ground running."
