William Carvalho has seemingly re-opened the door to a move away from Sporting Lisbon this summer.

The defensive midfielder has reportedly caught the attention of several of Europe's giants, with Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Monaco all heavily linked with a move for the 22 year old.

Carvalho has constantly denied any rumours about his future, but after Portugal's early elimination from the World Cup he admitted he is not so sure anymore.

"Will I stay at Sporting? I don't know. I'm going back to Portugal and then we'll see," Carvalho said in an interview with MaisFutebol after Portugal's 2-1 win over Ghana.

Carvalho played all 90 minutes in the victory over Ghana and 45 minutes in the 2-2 draw with the USA as Portugal crashed out at the group stages of a major tournament for the first time since 2002.

"I am very proud to be in my first World Cup at 22. It was a very good experience but unfortunately our objective was not achieved. We are all down, but we have to look to the future."

Carvalho was expected to start in Brazil, but Paulo Bento stuck with his favourite midfield trio of Miguel Veloso, Raul Meireles and Joao Moutinho until injuries forced his hand.

"Did I expect to play more? It's for the manager to decide who plays. I'm just happy to help."

Sporting are reportedly readying a new contract for Carvalho, who currently has a €45M release clause. Manchester United have been reported as hot favourites for his signature all season and Louis van Gaal could be a fan of his ball winning ability.
