Remi Garde leaves Aston Villa: His dismal Premier League record

Remi Garde

Remi Garde has left Aston Villa by mutual consent after a dismal four-month spell in charge of the Premier League's bottom club.

The Frenchman signed a three-and-a-half year contract when he replaced Tim Sherwood in November, but he was unable to inspire a turnaround and leaves the Villans 12 points adrift of safety and on the brink of relegation to the Championship after six consecutive defeats.

Villa's only Premier League victories under Garde came against fellow strugglers Crystal Palace and Norwich, with six draws and 12 defeats making up the other 18 games of his tenure.

His win rate of 10 per cent is the third-lowest of Premier League managers to have overseen at least 15 games, behind only former Southampton boss Steve Wigley and ex-Bolton manager Roy McFarland.

John Gorman Swindon 42 5 15 22 11.9
Chris Hutchings Bradford/ Wigan 24 3 6 15 12.5

Garde's record looks even worse in comparison to his Aston Villa predecessors. Alex McLeish is their-second worst with a win rate of 18.4 per cent, and the much-maligned Tim Sherwood won 26.1 per cent of his Premier League matches in charge.
