League Two leaders Northampton beat 10-man York City 2-0 as in the top-versus-bottom clash at Sixfields.

City battled hard but their efforts were all in vain as they ended the match a man down after Luke Hendrie was sent off in the second half.

York, who made a strong start to the contest, fell behind on 21 when Lee Martin's corner was nodded in by John-Joe O'Toole.

Dave Winfield went close with a header, but within 60 seconds the Cobblers were two ahead with Ricky Holmes setting up Marc Richards to curl the ball in from inside the box.

And two minutes later it got worse for the Minstermen who lost Hendrie - shown a red for a foul on Holmes.

Accrington, in sixth spot, were beaten 2-0 at Carlisle who netted a brace of first-half goals at Brunton Park.

Mid-table United went ahead on 27 as Charlie Wyke fired home from inside the box. And 11 minutes later it was 2-0 as Wyke's deflected shot fell to Alex Gilliead who made no mistake from 12 yards.

There were three goals at Field Mill where Mansfield came from behind to beat Morecambe 2-1.

Kevin Ellison netted the first League Two goal of the afternoon, needing less than 60 seconds to locate the bottom left-hand corner from outside the box.

However, the Stags were level on 15 thanks to Matty Blair's rising shot and, nine minutes later, Blair provided the assist as Mansfield secured the win through a Krystian Pearce header.

Play-off hopefuls Wycombe were beaten 1-0 at home by Luton whose goal arrived five minutes before half-time thanks to Cameron McGeehan's superb volley over keeper Ryan Allsop. Paul Benson hit a post late on but Luton held on.

And there were also single goal victories for Crawley, Leyton Orient and Cambridge United.

Matt Harrold netted the only goal as Crawley won 1-0 at Stevenage. With 44 minutes played, Harrold fired the visitors in front from close range as he latched on to Roarie Deacon's cross. Tom Pett went close for the hosts who remain in the bottom six.

Jobi McAnuff was on target as Leyton Orient edged Portsmouth 1-0 at Fratton Park.

His 25-yard strike, eight minutes into the second half, moved Orient into the play-off places and one point above Pompey.

Jay Simpson and Armand Gnanduillet also went close for the visitors while Conor Chaplin headed over for Portsmouth.

Dagenham, deep in trouble in 23rd spot, lost 1-0 at Cambridge for whom Luke Berry's late penalty secured the points.

After Joe Worrall had fouled Robbie Simpson, Berry crashed the ball home seven minutes from time. Dagenham had an effort cleared off the line early on, while the Us moved closer to the play-off spots.
