League Two Morecambe have signed Blackburn striker Anton Forrester on loan.

The Shrimps completed the signing ahead of the loan window closing on Thursday evening and Forrester will be with the club until January 3.

Speaking about the move, manager Jim Bentley said on his club's official website: "I have been looking to freshen up the squad and Anton is someone who comes highly recommended.

"He will give us extra options as we enter a really important phase of the season and we are all really looking forward to working with him."

Forrester started his career in Everton's youth team before joining Rovers at the beginning of 2013 and made his first-team debut in the same year in the FA Cup.

The 21-year-old Englishman spent the 2013-14 season on loan to Bury but after a successful start to the campaign a serious knee ligament injury ended the striker's season prematurely.

Forrester spent nine months away from football before returning last December for Blackburn's Under-21s but has struggled with injuries since.
