Carlisle closed the gap on the top two in Sky Bet League Two with a 2-1 win at Wycombe.

With leaders Doncaster and second-placed Plymouth held to 1-1 draws against Luton and Hartlepool respectively, Keith Curle's men took advantage with victory at Adams Park.

Adebayo Akinfenwa headed Wycombe into an early lead from Anthony Stewart's first-time cross but Carlisle were level shortly afterwards when Reggie Lambe's pass picked out Jamie Proctor and he fired home from the edge of the box.

Lambe slid in a second for the Cumbrians in the 34th minute and they held on to move three points behind Argyle and six off Rovers.

At the Keepmoat Stadium, Jordan Cook broke the deadlock for fourth-placed Luton in the 54th minute, driving a low shot across the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner.

But Doncaster grabbed an equaliser with 10 minutes remaining when youngster Alfie May raced through to score.

Matty Kennedy's superb curling effort from 25 yards rescued a point for Plymouth after Hartlepool had led at the break through Rhys Oates' close-range strike.
