Morecambe delve into transfer market

Morecambe's summer rebuild continues at pace with the arrival of four new signings. Sammy McIlroy has already added Barry Roche, Michael Carr and Neil Wainwright to his squad for the forthcoming season, but is continuing to search for quality additions to his playing staff. Ryan McCann, Andy Parrish, Matty Bell and Aaron Taylor are the latest arrivals at Christie Park. Full-back McCann joins Morecambe after a four-month spell with Queen of the South, where his last appearance was in a Scottish Cup final defeat to Rangers. Parrish joins from Lancashire rivals Bury, having been surprisingly released by Alan Knill at the end of last season. He made over 20 appearances for the Shakers during the 2007/08 campaign and was considered a fans' favourite after three years with the club.

Potential

Bell and Taylor are both graduates of the club's youth academy and will be hoping for a chance to prove themselves in the first-team. Bell is a defender, while Taylor is a striker who has caught the eye with a number of impressive showings for the Under 18s and the British Colleges side. Having had a busy summer so far McIlroy admitted that he was delighted by the standard of player he has been able to recruit. "The squad is shaping up nicely now and I am really happy to get Ryan and Andy on board as well as the young lads who have real potential," he told the club's official website. "It is not long until we return to training and I'm really looking forward to working with all the new lads."
