Morecambe winger Neil Wainwright has signed a new contract to stay with the League Two club next season.

Winger happy to commit future to McIlroy's side

Morecambe winger Neil Wainwright has signed a new contract to stay with the League Two club next season. Wainwright has started only four games in the league this term and had a spell on loan at Barrow in the Blue Square Premier earlier in the campaign. However, the 32-year-old has been rewarded with a 12-month extension and is now looking to put an injury-hit season behind him. He told the club's official website: "This season has been a bit frustrating and I'm really pleased to have signed on again. "I really enjoy it at Morecambe and my family have settled into the area as well. It is a club that is definitely going in the right direction." Shrimps boss Sammy McIlroy added: "Neil has had a few injury problems this year, but he is an experienced player who is great to have around. "He is a very popular member of the squad who gives us options on the wing and I'm pleased to see him sign again."
