Scott eyes Marshall conversion

Rotherham United manager Andy Scott is trying to convert Marcus Marshall into a right-back ahead of the new campaign.

Marshall, who was played all of his career as a winger or striker, was given a run-out in the full-back role in Tuesday's friendly defeat to Sheffield Wednesday and Scott thinks the positional switch is worth exploring. "I had a brain wave. He has got all the attributes to be a modern-day full-back I believe," he said. "I have spoken to him and it might work, it might not work. We know that he is good going forward, got pace and good in the air so we will work with him defensively. "This is an opportunity for him to stake his claim in the right-back slot, but we know that if it doesn't work out he is a more than capable right winger. "But there are some very good full-backs who used to be wingers."
