Bentley upbeat despite defeat

Morecambe boss Jim Bentley praised his side's performance at Coventry but bemoaned the manner of the goals they conceded.

Gary McSheffrey put City in front from the penalty spot after 37 minutes of Saturday's FA Cup tie at the Ricoh Arena after he was felled by Barry Roche when attempting to go around the Shrimpers goalkeeper. Home captain Carl Baker doubled the lead 17 seconds into the second half with a curling effort against his former club. Kevin Ellison scored to bring the visitors back into it with 20 minutes to play but Coventry held on comfortably in the end. "I think we played some good stuff," said Bentley after his side's 2-1 loss. "We do try to get the ball down and play. "In the first half we created plenty of chances and there wasn't much in it. We probably played the better football. We can take confidence from the performance, we have been playing like that all season. "But I am just massively disappointed with the manner in which we conceded the goals and the timing of the goals. "We had the warning when Coventry broke away from a first corner and five minutes later, just one or two passes and they are one against one with our keeper and that's disappointing for me, at any level of football but certainly against a team like Coventry. "We just lacked a little bit of know how there. We then conceded within 30 seconds of the start of the second half and gave ourselves and even bigger mountain to climb."
