Safety first says keeper Roche

Morecambe goalkeeper Barry Roche understands boss Jim Bentley being cautious over their League Two prospects this year.

Saturday's 1-1 draw with Oxford extended the Shrimps' unbeaten run in the league to three matches but, after seeing his side ship a late equaliser, Bentley cautioned that they were in a relegation battle. The manager's words came despite the fact Morecambe sit 16th with 27 points - nine above the drop zone. "I think it's a sensible way of looking at things," said Roche. "We've got to get to the points target which he's set at 50 points. "Once you get to that I think you can start looking up the table. "We know how well we could do if we start to find a little bit of consistency but, first and foremost, we've got to try and get to that safety marker."
