Roche eyeing play-off push

Barry Roche hopes the current confident streak running through Morecambe's squad can help to fire them up the table.

Last weekend's late comeback win at Dagenham made it eight points in five npower League Two matches since the turn of the year for Jim Bentley's men. "We feel we've been playing well," Shrimps goalkeeper Roche said. "The game at home against Dagenham we were 1-0 down and showed good character to come back like we did on Saturday. "We had a good point at home to Cheltenham where we could have nicked a win - we feel we're not far off putting a run together. "Unfortunately we've not managed to do that this season but the way we're playing now we're going into every game with confidence and even at 1-0 down with 10 minutes to go on Saturday we believed we'd get back into the game. After we got the first goal we didn't sit back, we pushed on for the win. We're playing with a lot of confidence at the minute." Morecambe are eight points clear of the relegation zone and seven shy of the play-off places and Roche knows a winning run at this stage of the season could decide where their attentions lie in the home stretch. "It's such a tight league that one win like Saturday can shoot you up the table," he added. "Now we're looking up and, over the next month of games, if we can pick up a few wins here and there all of a sudden you're looking at the play-offs rather than looking over your shoulder. "There's a lot of teams down below us, the likes of Bristol Rovers and Plymouth, who I feel are just coming into a little bit of form. They've started winning games so it's very important for us to be winning games."
