Gonzalo Higuain reveals what it takes to be a top striker and picks his two favourite goals

Juventus frontman Gonzalo Higuain has chosen his favourite goals and what it takes to be a striker.

The Argentina international has played for some of Europe's biggest clubs in his career, including Real Madrid, Napoli and his current team Juve.

And the 27-year-old has enjoyed an impressive record in front of goal during that period, scoring more than 200 times since joining Los Blancos in 2006, including some memorable strikes.

"The best goal I scored is difficult," he said at the launch of Nike's HyperVenom III boots. "The goals I liked most were actually two - one with Napoli that was a scissor kick and it was for the record and the other one was for Juventus against Roma.

"The goal against Napoli, [Dries] Mertens passed me the ball to the chest, and when the chest stopped it and the ball went up, I knew what to do. It was the scissor kick.

"And against Roma, when they passed me the ball after winning the first intervention, I kicked it long when I saw that [Kostas] Manolas went to the ground.

"I knew that once I had passed him, I would have to be very quick, because otherwise I would have lost the favourable arch and it would have been very hard for me because an opponent was closing on me. So the decision had to be taken quickly."

However, what tips can Higuain pass on about the art of finishing?

"Any advice I can give is to be confident to score a goal because every moment can be decisive for a striker," he said.

"A situation with two opponents can be difficult, but it also depends on your team-mates' movements, so you have to try and move with the others and try to score the goal.

"My style of playing has been changing with the passing of time. I started as a midfielder and ended up as a striker.

"So with the passing of time I have been changing, improving and learning, so with every instruction I get I do this: I improve my imperfections and the virtues as well, because I think that is what makes a player evolve."

The new HyperVenom will be available from Nike.com from January 30, 2017
