The Austrian striker is spending his second successive season on loan at Frankfurt from Napoli, but has been unable to establish himself in Armin Veh's team.
Reports have claimed that the 25-year-old could join former club Rapid Vienna when the transfer window reopens and Hoffer is ready to assess his options.
"The situation I am in at Eintracht Frankfurt is really unpleasant," Hoffer told BILD. "I am not satisfied with my role, I have to admit.
"It's very tough to do your best in every training session to just end up without any action all the time. Not playing is hard to accept.
"You are definitely starting to think things over in weeks like this. How may it go on, how you can change it to become a happier player."
Frankfurt boss Veh added: "Jimmy (Hoffer) is a full part of our first-team squad. He has got some really good skills and is always an option for me in terms of matches.
"Anyway, it's a top competition and he is in a competitive situation with players from the squad."
