Manchester City U21 are out of the Checkatrade Trophy after losing on penalties to Chesterfield.

Four goals were shared in normal time to ensure the game was settled from the 12 yards. Jerome Binnom-Williams headed Chesterfield into the lead in the 74th minute but City responded late on as Ed Francis and Luke Nmecha put them into the lead late on.

Chesterfield fought back to equalise in stoppage-time through Chris O'Grady which sent the game to penalties.

The Spireites won the shootout 4-3 as Demeaco Duhaney and Tyreke Wilson were unsuccessful from the spot.

Fulham U21 beat Crawley 3-1 in as Elijah Adebayo and two Jordan Graham goals earned the visitors the win, despite Ibrahim Meite's consolation.
