The 21-year-old was signed from Blackburn Rovers earlier this month and he has marked both his Championship appearances for Wolves with the only goal in the game.
He was the match-winner against Luton Town on Saturday, having sunk Burnley on his Wolves debut.
With McCarthy having shipped off Polish forward Tomasz Frankowski to Tenerife, he is confident he has worked some magic in the transfer market.
"I'm not sure exactly what the figure was, but whatever we paid for Jemal he's been worth it in our last two games," said McCarthy.
"He scored the only goal of the game against Burnley and he's won us the game against Luton with a terrific goal.
"So, compared to the Frankowski deal, I suppose you could say signing Jemal was a good bit of business, couldn't you?"
McCarthy's Luton counterpart Mike Newell has also brought in a striker of late, with Sam Parkin making his debut at Molineux.
Signed from Ipswich during the week, Parkin could have earned his new team a penalty late on, with Newell left to rue the decision.
Newell said: "I thought it was a penalty and so did all of our lads.
"But the referee didn't have a bad game and he would have to be brave to give that decision so late in the game.
"I asked him about it and he said there were so many bodies in the way, it would've had to have been a guess from him.
"But we think Sam's got goals in him and will be a handful for opposition defences.
"He showed in 20 minutes the promise he has and he gives us a physical presence up front.
"But he's not just a big lad, he's mobile and will provide competition for places at the club."
