Crystal Palace have confirmed Matt Lawrence, Danny Butterfield and Clint Hill are leaving the club.

New Palace manager allows trio to depart

Crystal Palace manager George Burley has revealed that Matt Lawrence, Danny Butterfield and Clint Hill will all be leaving the club with immediate effect. Burley, who took over the hotseat at Selhurst Park less than a fortnight ago has already started the summer clear-out ahead of the new season. The former Scotland manager has decided not to offer Butterfield, Lawrence and Hill new deals and the defenders, who are all out of contract this summer, have been allowed to leave. The trio join Shaun Derry and Johnny Ertl in leaving Selhurst Park as Burnley looks to bring in new players ahead of the new Championship campaign. Derry, 32, has moved across London to join rivals QPR, while Ertl has headed north and signed with Sheffield United. Butterfield, 30, was the club's longest serving player having joined from Grimsby back in 2002 and the defender scored the fastest hat-trick in Palace's history against Wolves in the FA Cup last season.

Meanwhile, new deals have been been offered to Kieron Cadagon, Calvin Andrew and Kieran Djilali. Burley will also have to consider the futures of Stern John and Darryl Flahavan, who are both out of contract. The Scot has also announced his backroom staff ahead of pre-season training. Former Palace striker Dougie Freedman will assist Burley while another former player, Dean Austin has been named reserve team manager. Former Arsenal and Fulham goalkeeper Malcolm Webster also joins the backroom team. The 59-year-old worked under Burley as goalkeeping coach at Colchester, Ipswich, Hearts and Southampton.
