Defender pens one-year Southampton deal
Southampton have continued building for a promotion push in the coming season by signing experienced defender Danny Butterfield.
The 30-year-old joins The Saints on a free transfer having been released by The Eagles this summer after eight seasons with the Selhurst Park outfit.
Butterfield brings a wealth of experience to Alan Pardew's team having accrued 250 starts for Palace at Premier League and Championship level.
The club's newest signing is now the second ex-Palace defender in the Saints squad, following his old team-mate Jose Fonte to the south coast.
Butterfield will be vying with another summer signing, Frazier Richardson, to start at right-back for the League One outfit this season.
