Aldershot Town have confirmed the appointment of Andrew Mills as the club's new chief executive.

The Shots are undergoing a period of change which they have themselves labelled as 'restructuring on and off the pitch', with senior figures such as the club's chief operations officer, marketing manager and company secretary all departing in recent weeks as well as assistant manager Matt Bishop. Mills' arrival is the latest part of those changes and he will start his new role on February 1. He has previously held a similar position at Brentford and has also been general manager at Charlton. Mills said: "Having met the board of directors and chairman over the past few days it's clear there is no lack of want or intent to progress the football club through the tough economic challenges currently facing all Football League clubs. "With this in mind I look forward to working with the dedicated team of staff and volunteers who continue to show their commitment to doing just that and progressing the football club both on and off the pitch." Aldershot chairman and owner Kris Machala last week revealed he is on the lookout for new investors in the League Two club and that he is in talks with possible interested parties, although a sale is not on the cards. Machala added: "I would like to welcome Andrew to the club. This is an important appointment and we are delighted to acquire the services of somebody with such an extensive experience within the game." It has also been confirmed that Peter Duffy, Aldershot chief executive for two years up until the end of 2011, has been formally appointed as an advisor to the board at the EBB Stadium having performed a similar role behind the scenes.
