Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes insists his side will focus on their own results rather than worrying about how other teams perform after seeing them held 1-1 at Hamilton.

The Dons took the lead when Kenny McLean volleyed home after four minutes but the Accies created a series of good chances and equalised through Dougie Imrie 20 minutes from time.

The result leaves the Dons seven points behind leaders Celtic and a point adrift of Hearts but McInnes warned his players not to become "obsessed" with how other teams perform.

"There's still 60-odd points available so it's really early to be too obsessed with other things. We just need to manage our own game," he said.

"Our fight is with ourselves. We don't look at anybody else, I think it's too early. We are confident we will win enough games over the course of the season to meet what's expected of us.

"We got off to a great start with a fantastic strike by Kenny and had opportunities to get a second goal. But the whole time we weren't convincing enough with our defensive work.

"We allowed Hamilton every encouragement to believe they can get something from the game. They are a good side and you would have to say they deserved their point."

McInnes, who was without injured skipper Ryan Jack, felt his side were guilty of overplaying in the wrong areas and taking unnecessary risks.

"You normally have to play really well to win at Hamilton, that goes for any team, so we will take the positive that we have not been at our best and taken a point," he added.

Hamilton boss Martin Canning was pleased with his side's battling spirit to earn a point but felt they should have got more from the game.

"I thought first half we were better and the second half was slightly more even but we edged it again," he said. "I think a point was probably the least we deserved.

"If we can continue to perform like that it won't be long before we start winning again because the performance levels have been really good.

"Fortunately Dougie has popped up with the goal but in the first half we had a lot of opportunities and had we been more clinical we could have been two or three ahead at half-time."
