We cast an eye over this weekend's Premier League action and pick out the highlights.
Game of the weekend
Liverpool 4 Swansea 3
Liverpool and Swansea served up a thriller at Anfield as Brendan Rodgers came out on top against his former employers to keep the Reds in the hunt for the title. The early signs were that it may be a straightforward home win as Daniel Sturridge opened the scoring and Jordan Henderson curled home a sublime second on 20 minutes. However, former Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey reduced the arrears with a great strike and Wilfried Bony's deflected header drew Swansea level. Sturridge restored Liverpool's lead but Swansea responded again thanks to a Bony penalty. There was to be one final twist, however, as Henderson grabbed his second of the afternoon.
Goal of the weekend
Tomas Rosicky
There were some great strikes this weekend but our pick of the bunch is a beautiful team goal, typical of Arsenal at their flowing best and finished off by Tomas Rosicky. The Gunners were already in full flow at 2-0 against Sunderland when they conjured up their piece of artistry. It was a wonderful demonstration of slick one-touch football as Rosicky exchanged passes with Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla before running on to a clever ball from Olivier Giroud and chipping a classy finish over Vito Mannone's dive. The goal extinguished any chance of a Sunderland fightback and Arsenal cruised through to full-time to win 4-1.
Dubious goal of the weekend
Chelsea's winner
The Dubious Goals Committee will probably want to take another look at Chelsea's winner at Everton, which was credited to three different players within five minutes of going in. Frank Lampard delivered a teasing free-kick in injury time and John Terry stuck out a boot, before the ball deflected in off goalkeeper Tim Howard and gave the Blues a vital victory in the title race. It was unclear from the replays whether Terry had just got the slightest touch to make it his goal, and if he did not there was some initial confusion about whether it should go down as Lampard's or a Howard own goal. Either way, it was a cruel moment for Everton and Howard, who had earlier produced a fantastic double save to thwart Eden Hazard and Branislav Ivanovic.
Moment of the weekend
Wayne Rooney's goal
Wayne Rooney was the centre of attention at Selhurst Park as he lined up for Manchester United just 24 hours after signing a lucrative new contract extension. He celebrated the deal in style with a wonderful strike, showing expert technique to guide a volley into the top corner from Patrice Evra's left-wing cross. The goal sealed a 2-0 success for David Moyes' side and just about kept up their hopes of a top-four finish, with Rooney declaring after the match that he was fully committed and looking forward to a successful future.
Gaffe of the weekend
Maarten Stekelenburg
Sunderland's Santiago Vergini would be a worthy recipient of his award after his woeful back-pass gifted Olivier Giroud a goal for Arsenal, but Stekelenburg's mistake was more costly as Fulham dropped two points in a 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion. The Dutch keeper had been in fine form all afternoon but he allowed a Matej Vydra shot to squirm under his body and the Goal Decision System came into its own to confirm that the ball had crossed the line. The result kept the Cottagers rooted to the bottom of the table and denied Felix Magath a winning start to his reign.
Miss of the weekend
Edin Dzeko
There were a few bad misses over the weekend but Dzeko gets the nod after a shocking effort in Manchester City's clash with Stoke City. Yaya Toure had given Manuel Pellegrini's side the lead just a couple of minutes earlier but Dzeko really should have settled the nerves with a second when he was presented with seemingly the simplest of finishes after being picked out unmarked by Jesus Navas. Just a couple of yards out and with the goal at his mercy, the striker somehow failed to score and took out his frustration on the post. Fortunately for Dzeko, City held on to win 1-0 and stay in touch with the top two.
Relief of the weekend
Newcastle end drought
Newcastle have endured a barren run in front and it looked their drought would extend for a fifth game after a largely uninspiring game against Aston Villa. However, the St James' Park faithful finally had something to cheer in stoppage time as Loic Remy kept his composure to fire home and end a three-match losing run. It was a huge result for the Magpies following recent reports about the future of boss Alan Pardew, and the late goal will have come as a particular relief to Remy after he squandered a glorious chance just moments earlier.
