Football Podcast

The Premier League title race, Tim Sherwood's Spurs future and the battle to avoid relegation are all discussed.

Last Updated: 08/04/14 6:01pm

Sky Sports News Radio's Dave Reed is joined in the studio by TEAMtalk's Sam Nightingale and Sky Sports' Adam Bate to discuss the weekend's Premier League action, including Liverpool's crucial 2-1 win at West Ham as the Reds bid to win a first title since 1990, Tottenham's 5-1 victory over Sunderland in the Monday Night Football and the future of boss Tim Sherwood, plus the fight to avoid the relegation trapdoor.

TITLE RACE HOTTING UP

Liverpool edged past West Ham 2-1 but there were plenty of talking points in the clash and the lads discuss all the controversial moments at Upton Park.

Brendan Rodgers' side are two points clear of Chelsea with Manchester City four points behind the Reds and it looks like a three-horse race, with Arsenal and Everton battling for fourth spot. The trio ponder which team will come out on top and look ahead to the monumental Super Sunday clash between Liverpool and Man City. And they ponder if Arsenal will win a trophy this season ahead of the Gunners' FA Cup semi-final against Wigan.

SHERWOOD'S SPURS FUTURE

Tottenham thrashed Sunderland 5-1 on Monday night and Tim Sherwood was keen to steer talk away from his future as Spurs boss after the win. Sam tips Holland boss Louis van Gaal to take over at White Hart Lane after the World Cup this summer, while Adam pulls no punches in his criticism of Sherwood.

BATTLE TO AVOID THE DROP

Norwich sacked Chris Hughton and his backroom staff on Sunday, with Under-18s coach Neil Adams named first-team manager. But will the Canaries stay up? The lads assess Norwich's chances of beating the drop ahead of their six-pointer at Fulham this weekend, with Sunderland and Cardiff looking doomed.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUARTER-FINALS

And finally Dave, Sam and Adam consider Chelsea and Manchester United's chances of progressing in the Champions League ahead of their quarter-final second-leg matches against Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich respectively, and they don't give David Moyes' side much hope at the Allianz Arena.
