Sky Sports has confirmed the first live Football League fixtures for 2012/13, starting with Cardiff v Huddersfield.

Eight games now confirmed for opening weeks of season

Sky Sports will broadcast Cardiff City v Huddersfield Town as the first npower Football League match of the new season. The match, which will kick off at 7.45pm on Friday 17 August, will be the first of up to 75 live npower Football League games to be shown on Sky Sports HD this season including the npower Play-Offs and all three npower Play-Off finals from Wembley. In consultation with The Football League, Sky Sports has confirmed eight live fixtures including two over the opening weekend of the season. Further live matches will be announced as they are confirmed throughout the season. The live fixtures confirmed today include: - Cardiff City v Huddersfield Town - Newly promoted Huddersfield travel to the Welsh capital for the opening Championship match on Friday August 17. - Leeds United v Wolverhampton Wanderers - Wolves travel to Leeds for their first fixture back in the Championship on Saturday August 18. - Bolton Wanderers v Nottingham Forest - Relegated Bolton Wanderers host Forest at the Reebok Stadium on Friday August 25. Sky Sports will also show two live matches from round one of the Capital One Cup; Oldham Athletic v Sheffield Wednesday on Monday August 13 and Swindon Town v Brighton on Tuesday August 14.
