Paul Merson on Chelsea's 4-0 win at Stoke
"Chelsea rode their luck for the first ten minutes when Stoke played very well and Jones should have scored but put it past the post. However, after that, Chelsea were unbelievable; they were outstanding. You can go through all the teams that have been to Stoke in the last year and no one has done that to them.
"Chelsea passed them to death, they had them run ragged...Frank Lampard was outstanding and could have had a hat-trick. If it wasn't for Begovic it could have been six or seven.
"Walters ran his socks off and was Stoke's best player, although he scored two own goals and missed a penalty. I feel sorry for him because if there's one player you don't want to have a bad game, it's him.
"There were 10 international footballers on the pitch and Frank Lampard was head and shoulders above every single one of them. For me there must be a million clubs interested in him. I think even the big boys will be in for him. Who wouldn't take him?
"He's as fit as anything, there's no weight on him, he scores goals, he makes chances, he covered every inch of the pitch...I can't talk highly enough of the bloke. If he leaves it will be Chelsea's loss. He could play for Man United, Man City, Liverpool, anyone at all."

Phil Thompson on Norwich's 0-0 draw with Newcastle
"A lot of the passing was poor, the set-pieces, from both sides, weren't delivered beyond the first man...the managers must have been tearing their hair out because there was such a lack of quality in this game. Both goalkeepers had very little to do.
"It seemed like Newcastle were in search of a bit of confidence, 'let's make sure we don't get beat', because Cisse was up front on his own and I can't remember players running beyond him; he must have had half a dozen kicks all game, it was that poor.
"Coloccini was outstanding. I think he's had a difficult season - maybe his head isn't right - but he was excellent today. He was reading things and in the right position all the time. If he is going to stay for a while then you can see he's not going to shirk his duties; he still took the captain's armband and I thought he was fantastic."

Charlie Nicholas on Everton's 0-0 draw with Swansea
"I've seen Everton play better, but I'd probably give a little bit of credit to Swansea for that. They started Dwight Tiendalli at right-back with Angel Rangel just in front of him and that was to try and nullify Pienaar and Baines. It was a clever move and they defended very well. Swansea's organisation and shape was very good.
"Saying that, Everton had five or six golden opportunities to score - Jelavic could have had a hat-trick - but Vorm was in top form for Swansea. Everton should have won the game with their chances but the outstanding players on the pitch were defenders: Chico and Williams were absolutely immense.
"Swansea look like they understand the other side of the game this year. Their movement from wider areas is good, they come into the space and there's more movement and variety about them this season. Laudrup has improved quite a bit of this team."

Matt Le Tissier on Sunderland's 3-0 win over West Ham
"This was about the best I've seen Sunderland this season. They started the game brightly, got an early goal and never looked back. West Ham, certainly in the first half, barely created anything of note and when the second goal went in I found it very difficult to see West Ham getting back into the game. It was only when they went 2-0 and 3-0 down West Ham actually put some real pressure on Sunderland's goal. It was a convincing goal for Sunderland.
"Larsson, for someone who strikes a dead ball the way he does, you don't expect him to go that long without scoring goals - but this one was pretty special, and with his weak foot. Left-footed, 25-30 yards out, on the half volley, sliced it into the top corner. It was a brilliant strike and the keeper could do nothing about it - well worth seeing on Football First tonight.
"West Ham's front three of Jarvis, Cole and Cole were pretty disappointing. Certainly in the first half the three of them didn't get into the game at all. They never seemed to get enough possession out wide to trouble Sunderland in those areas."
