Ed Chamberlin recalls a thrilling weekend of Premier League football

My job as a football presenter revolves around stories. I can't remember a recent Premier League weekend with better stories.

From Leicester City going top of the table to Aston Villa's drubbing at Everton, there were stories galore on another brilliantly unpredictable weekend of Premier League football.

And it was all summed up by my attempt to win the £1m jackpot on the Super 6, where I got four of the six results wrong, let alone the scorelines. Like a former Southampton manager used to regularly advise, I will pick myself up and go again.

My favourite stories from the weekend were as follows:

1. For the first time since 1963 Leicester lead the way in the top division this deep into a season. A sensational achievement. It's incredible to think they were bottom of the table at this stage last season. Leicester have gone full circle inside 12 months. And they've done it in style.

Leicester have scored 28 Premier League goals this season, which is the most in the League, and they are the only team to score in every game. Jamie Vardy is rightly getting all the headlines, but Riyad Mahrez and Danny Drinkwater aren't far behind.

Now comes the big test for Vardy and the team. He and Leicester are now marked men and that begins in the meeting of the top two - the Foxes against Manchester United - live on Saturday Night Football.

2. Jamie Carragher said on Monday Night Football that the first 30 minutes on Saturday was as good as any he's seen from a Liverpool side in the Premier League era. They tore Manchester City apart.

To go from losing at home to Crystal Palace to beating the title favourites on their own patch sums up this crazy Premier League season. City are odds against again to win the title and punters and odds compilers alike must be scratching their heads wondering what is going on.

It all leaves Sky Bet's title odds looking like this: 11/8 Manchester City, 2/1 Arsenal, 7/2 Manchester United, 20/1 Tottenham & Liverpool, 50/1 Chelsea, 100/1 bar.

3. How on earth did Arsenal lose at West Brom? The home side won 2-1 but had only one attempt on target. We will see if Arsenal can bounce back at Norwich on Super Sunday. We will now see how they cope without Francis Coquelin in a position they failed to strengthen over the summer.

The positive from the weekend was a seventh consecutive game in which Mesut Ozil provided an assist, a new Premier League record. He's also getting into some great goalscoring positions and has to be of interest at 2/1 to score on Sunday. Ozil and Alexis Sanchez were dynamite on Tuesday night. Norwich look out.

4. Belief is starting to grow among United fans that their team can win the league. They are down to 7/2 with Sky Bet. United may not be setting the league alight, but they look the side least likely to make mistakes or get a thumping.

The 3-0 defeat at the Emirates is their one blip. Despite that Louis van Gaal's side still have the best defence in the league, with only nine goals against them and on Saturday conceded for the first time in 10 hours 41 minutes in all competitions.

Everton's Ross Barkley celebrates scoring his side's third goal of the game

5. Under the radar, Everton are flying along and have now scored 10 goals in their last two home games. As Jamie said on MNF they have a fantastic spine to the team with John Stones, James McCarthy, Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku. All 24 of their league goals this season have come from open play. Barkley now has five goals and four assists this season. Lukaku has nine league goals to his name and is the fifth player to score 50 Premier League goals before the age of 23.

While Everton are dark horses at 11/1 for a top-four finish, Aston Villa are in dire trouble and down to 1/3 with Sky Bet to be relegated.

Saturday was their 10th defeat in 13 Premier League games this season. They've taken one point from two games for Remi Garde and are yet to score under their new manager. No team has ever survived having taken five points or fewer after 13 Premier League games.

6. Tottenham continue to look the real deal. I've been harping on about Mauricio Pochettino for weeks and yet again his team looked so well drilled and full of energy on Super Sunday.

With no Dimitri Payet and his team losing two of their last three, this is the first big test for Slaven Bilic as West Ham manager. We see them again on Super Sunday this weekend against West Brom.

7. Why is Garry Monk under pressure at Swansea? Only a few weeks ago he was being talked about as a potential England manager. Monk and his team will bounce back.

8. The trend of an extraordinary number of away wins carried on. There have now been an equal number of home and away wins this season - 48. To put that in perspective, there had only been 38 away wins at this stage last season. I was at St Mary's to see a game that summed up that trend. Stoke did a job on Southampton, soaking up plenty of pressure, before catching them on the break. It could easily have been three or four for the visitors.

What a brilliantly bizarre season this is...
