Team of the Week
Marek Stech - Yeovil Town
Yeovil recorded back-to-back wins this week and goalkeeper Marek Stech played a key part in ensuring that the Glovers maintained their play-off push. He kept a clean sheet in Saturday's 1-0 win at Coventry and pulled off a number of fine saves in Tuesday night's 3-1 win over Preston. Yeovil are now up to seventh in League One and just four points separates them and league leaders Bournemouth.
Andy Butler - Walsall
Walsall made it six wins from seven with Saturday's 2-1 win over promotion chasers Doncaster. Captain Andy Butler headed the Saddlers into the lead after just 72 seconds with the result preventing Rovers from moving into pole position.
Evan Horwood - Hartlepool United
Basement side Hartlepool extended their unbeaten run to four games after draws against Swindon and Portsmouth this week. Evan Horwood put in a solid display in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Swindon, who could've gone top with a win. The defender also played his part in keeping a clean sheet in Tuesday's 0-0 draw at home to fellow strugglers Portsmouth.
Paul Reid - Scunthorpe United
Experienced defender Paul Reid headed home Scunthorpe's second in Tuesday night's 3-1 win over Carlisle as they recorded their third league win on the bounce, pulling themselves away from the relegation zone. Reid also captained the Iron to a 2-1 win at home to Crawley on Saturday.
Tony Craig - Brentford
Brentford kept the pressure on the League One promotion chasers, picking up four points from their games against Bury and Stevenage. Tony Craig was part of the defence that kept Stevenage quiet in Tuesday night's 2-0 win and his side are now four points off the top, level on points with Sheffield United and Yeovil.
Marc Pugh - Bournemouth
Bournemouth winger Marc Pugh gave Portsmouth's defence a torrid time in Saturday's 2-0 win at Dean Court. Pugh sealed the win when he slotted home Brett Pitman's pass to grab his seventh goal of the season, doubling the Cherries' lead as they capitalised on Doncaster's defeat to go top.
Michael Doyle - Sheffield United
The Blades returned to winning ways with back-to-back victories against Shrewsbury and Bury on the road. Captain Michael Doyle was influential in securing both vital away wins and he fired the Blades into the lead in Saturday's 2-1 win at Shrewsbury. It was his side's first league win since Boxing Day and Danny Wilson's men are still only four points off the top despite their recent dip in form.
Martin Rowlands - Leyton Orient
Leyton Orient picked up an impressive three points against high-flying Tranmere in Saturday's 2-1 win at the Matchroom Stadium. After Charlie McDonald had put Orient ahead, midfielder Martin Rowlands had the chance to double the lead but he was denied from the spot by Owain Fon Williams. However, the Irishman more than made up for his miss with a stunning 25 yard volley as his side's good league form continued.
Tom Adeyemi - Brentford
On-loan Norwich midfielder Tom Adeyemi fired Brentford in front with a superb strike from the edge of the box as they overcame Stevenage with a 2-0 win on Tuesday night. It was his first league goal for the Bees and the 21-year-old has caught the eye since joining from Carrow Road.
Brett Pitman - Bournemouth
Striker Brett Pitman set up Marc Pugh for Bournemouth's second in Saturday's 2-0 win over Portsmouth and he bagged both goals in Tuesday night's 2-1 win at Crewe as Eddie Howe's side moved to the top of the table. Pitman opened the scoring with a penalty before netting a late winner to seal the three points.
Paddy Madden - Yeovil Town
22 year-old striker Paddy Madden scored in both of Yeovil's wins this week, helping his side to move within touching distance of the top two. He grabbed the winner against Coventry on Saturday with a goal just before half time and he set up James Hayter's equaliser before adding the third in Tuesday's 3-1 win over Preston. The Irish striker has now scored nine goals in his last six appearances for Gary Johnson's side.
