St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright is determined his squad will not drop their standards as he prepares for the forthcoming season.
Saints finished fourth in the Scottish Premiership in May, the fifth successive year the club has ended the campaign in the top half of the table.
Wright was rewarded for his team's efforts when he was named Manager of the Year by the league's sponsors.
But Wright is wary of his players becoming complacent, and fears they could find themselves in a similar position to Dundee United if they adopt the wrong attitude.
United were competing consistently in the top-six and for the domestic cups in recent years, but never recovered from a poor start to last season and were relegated to the Championship.
Wrights said: "We must make sure we take nothing for granted. We have done well in the past few seasons with our top-six finishes and want to keep that going.
"However, we must guard against letting things slip. United went down last season and we don't want that happening to us."
Saints have been busy reshaping their squad for the new season as Wright has added defender Keith Watson from St Mirren, while Paul Paton has arrived from United, and fellow midfielder Blair Alston was signed from Falkirk, while former York winger Michael Coulson has been secured as well.
Wright has been happy with his dealings so far, and he is impressed by how quickly they have adapted to their new environment.
"We have recruited well and the four new lads have settled in nicely," Wright said.
