St Johnstone duo suspended following on-field altercation

St Johnstone's Richard Foster and Danny Swanson were sent off in their Premiership defeat to Hamilton, after fighting with each other

St Johnstone have suspended two players who were involved in an altercation during Saturday's Scottish Premiership defeat to Hamilton.

Danny Swanson and Richard Foster were both sent off during the half-time interval after an incident after the first half had ended at the Superseal Stadium.

The pair have now been give a suspension pending a club investigation into the incident during the game - which Hamilton won 1-0 - and will both miss at least Wednesday's match against Hearts.

Police Scotland have confirmed to Sky Sports News HQ that they are not taking any action regarding the incident as it is being dealt with by club officials.

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright said afterwards: "Until I have seen it, I can't really comment, but I have told the players in front of the rest that the club will investigate it.

"They have been told that if what is alleged to have happened, happened, I will and the club will come down on them as hard as we legally can.

"The players know that I won't show them any sympathy if what is alleged to have happened, happened.

"The players will be dealt with in the strongest possible way we can.

"The players have shaken hands and they have been really foolish and are probably embarrassed.

"Whether they had grievance on the pitch, it should have waited until they got into the dressing room.

"They cost us three points and we nearly got a point out of a magnificent performance from the nine that stayed on the pitch."
