Hamilton gave themselves breathing space in the fight against relegation with a crucial 2-0 win over Ross County in the Scottish Premiership.

Just three points separated the teams in the bottom three before the match, but it was Accies who pulled away from trouble to leave Ross County adrift of safety at the bottom.

Following a nervy opening period, Dougie Imrie netted the opener from the penalty spot after Bobby Madden penalised Marcus Fraser for a pull in the box, before David Templeton doubled the lead shortly afterwards.

Hibernian moved level on points with third-place Rangers - who face Celtic on Sunday live on Sky Sports - with a 5-3 win over Kilmarnock in a thrilling encounter at Easter Road.

Returning Hibs midfielder Scott Allan fired in the opener in the 29th minute only for Killie skipper Kris Boyd to level with a header four minutes later.

Midfielder Steven Whittaker restored the home side's lead in the 53rd minute, but that was cancelled out by Kilmarnock's Stuart Findlay on the hour mark.

The Leith side stretched ahead with goals from Jamie Maclaren and Florian Kamberi, before Boyd flashed in a free-kick to reduce the deficit.

But substitute Brandon Barker scored an injury-time fifth to continue Hibs' push for second spot. They sit three points behind Aberdeen with three games remaining.

Dundee defender Genseric Kusunga was carried off on a stretcher midway through his side's 2-1 defeat at Motherwell.

The 30-year-old went down seconds before the second half was due to start and left the field holding an oxygen mask to his face.

The Angolan had received treatment after opening the scoring in the 23rd minute.

Motherwell turned the game on its head thanks to headers from Ryan Bowman and Cedric Kipre, which removed all doubt about their Premiership status for next season.

Conor Sammon converted a late penalty to earn Partick Thistle a vital point from a 1-1 draw at St Johnstone.

The point sees Thistle pull two points clear of Ross County in the automatic relegation place and sit four points adrift of Hamilton, Dundee and safety.

Dunfermline will play Dundee United in the first leg of their quarter-final on Tuesday, with the return leg at East End Park on Friday.

Dumbarton were already condemned to a place in the Championship relegation play-off, where they will play Arbroath in the semi-finals, after finishing in ninth place.

George Oakley scored twice but Inverness missed out on a play-off place despite a comfortable 3-0 victory over Morton at Cappielow Park.

The visitors broke the deadlock after 20 minutes with the opener coming from Oakley, who nodded home Liam Polworth's corner at the near post.

The former AFC Wimbledon youth player doubled his and Inverness' tally eight minutes before the break as he burst clear down the right and picked up Charlie Trafford's pass before firing past goalkeeper Conor Brennan and Nathan Austin added a third.

Dundee United beat play-off rivals Livingston 2-0 thanks to goals from Craig Slater and Scott McDonald, while champions St Mirren suffered a 1-0 defeat at Falkirk following Ryan Blair's effort five minutes from time.

Ayr United were crowned Scottish League One champions after beating Albion Rovers 2-0 on the final day of the season.

Raith Rovers were a point ahead of Ayr heading into the last round of matches but were held to a 0-0 draw by Alloa Athletic.
