Motherwell striker is out of contract in the summer

Motherwell have made striker John Sutton the best offer possible to stay, according to manager Stuart McCall. Sutton underlined his goal scoring prowess on Saturday as he snared a brace as Well came from three goals down at the interval to draw 3-3 with Hearts. The Motherwell striker is out of contract in the summer and after meeting with the player's agent, McCall revealed they had made 'the best deal we can offer'. McCall's team will face Celtic in the Scottish Cup final next month, with the Motherwell stressing they have done everything they can to keep their top striker.

Best deal

"We've offered John the best deal we can offer him, regardless if he goes on and scores a hat-trick in the cup final or whatever," said McCall. "We can't do any more. If it's good enough we'll be delighted. We'd love him to stay. The grass is not always greener and sometimes it's not always about finances. "There's a lot to be said if you're content and happy where you are." Sutton, though, remains undecided about his future but admitted he is more than happy at Fir Park at the moment. "I enjoy coming in every day to training and the way we played second half, maybe not first half, is great to be a part of."
